On the Main Level, at 12:00 PM, Deanna Kwan will be holding an origami snake demonstration and craft in the Teen Room. Mrs. Kwan has been learning and teaching origami for over 25 years. When her son, Daniel, began to show interest in modular origami models Mrs. Kwan, as a mathematics teacher, was very interested in geometric models and learned many of the shapes over time. Joining OrigamiUSA and attending their Annual Convention, her love of origami was shared with over 600 folding enthusiasts from all over the USA and around the world. Mrs. Kwan teaches origami at schools, libraries, parks, origami conferences, arts festivals, health centers, and at the Paper Shapers Origami Club. In addition to her many accolades, Mrs. Kwan is honored to have been recognized by OrigamiUSA as the 2021 Teacher of the year. Read more here.
Throughout the celebration lucky coins, lantern painting, and other family crafts will be available around the library. By 12:30 PM, attendees are invited back down to the lower level to watch a rendition of a traditional Lion Dance, performed by Vizzio’s Institute of Martial Arts. Vizzio’s Institute of Martial Arts is not just cardio. It’s a legacy of technique at your fingertips. Explore Kung Fu and kickboxing classes in a fun and challenging environment, all while learning self-defense, gaining self-confidence, and cultivating self-discipline. Learn more here.
