An Evening with Nita Prose, Author of The Maid
Nita Prose has captivated millions of readers with her bestselling Molly the Maid novels, known for their unforgettable characters, clever mysteries, and heartfelt storytelling. During this special author talk at the Parsippany Library, she’ll discuss her writing journey, the inspiration behind her novels, and how Molly Gray became one of today’s most beloved fictional characters.
If you love mystery novels, book clubs, or meeting your favorite authors, this literary event is one you won’t want to miss.

Moderated by Council Vice President Diya Patel
The evening’s conversation will be moderated by Council Vice President Diya Patel, a Parsippany native, law graduate, and public servant dedicated to civic engagement, transparency, and community service.
Elected at just 23 years old, Diya became the first Indian and first member of Generation Z elected to the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Council, making her one of New Jersey’s youngest elected officials. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Criminal Justice from the University of Scranton before receiving her Juris Doctor from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. During law school, she worked for the New York Unified Court System and the Bronx County District Attorney’s Office before recently completing the July 2026 New York Uniform Bar Exam.
Diya also brings a deeply personal perspective to the discussion. Reading wasn’t always something that came naturally to her. Growing up with ADHD, she often struggled to enjoy reading, and the demanding reading assignments of law school reinforced the idea that reading was something to accomplish rather than experience. Over time, however, she discovered that reading doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Today, books provide an opportunity to slow down, step away from the pace of everyday life, and immerse herself in another world—making her an especially thoughtful moderator for an evening centered on the power and joy of reading.
