Due to the recent stretch of extreme heat, the Lake Hiawatha Branch Library is temporarily closed as we begin preparations to install a brand-new air conditioning system. The current AC unit is no longer operational, leading to unsafe indoor temperatures for both patrons and staff.
We understand how important library access is to our community, especially during the summer months. That’s why Library and Township officials are working quickly and carefully to get the building safely cooled and reopened as soon as possible.
The new AC unit has already been ordered, and preparations for installation are underway. If conditions allow, we hope to partially reopen the branch during the process, provided it is safe to do so. As of now, we expect to reopen with limited hours starting July 14, 2025.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete this essential upgrade to provide a safe and welcoming space for everyone. In the meantime, we invite you to visit our other locations—the Main Library or Mount Tabor Branch—which remain open and ready to serve you.
Stay cool, and we’ll see you soon!
– Melissa Kuzma, Parsippany Library Director
