About our Quiltmaker

Please Join the Parsippany Library as we showcase some beautiful quilts in our gallery downstairs at the Main Library.

Our quiltmaker is Jacqueline Laba and she is a longtime resident of Parsippany. She began making quilts in the late 1970s after her first child was born and she continued to quilt until she went back to work in 1984. When she retired after 29 years as an English teacher, she returned to the hobby she enjoys so much.

There was a lot of learning because of new tools and new techniques had changed over the years. The big turning point in her quilting journey occurred when she join the North Jersey Modern Quilt Guild and became fascinated by the designs and aesthetic of the modern quilting movement. Later Jackie joined the Garden State Quilters Guild and have found friends and inspiration in both organizations. Her work has been juried into several quilt shows and two pieces have appeared in quilting magazines.

Her quilts are pieced and quilted on her domestic sewing machine. Jackie uses patterns but also has created original designs. Her grandchildren and guests enjoy sleeping under her quilts.

Jacqueline would like to thank the Parsippany Library for the chance to display her quilts and share her artistry with all of our patrons.
