Live Well, Age Smart! Spring 2023 Lecture Series- Music of the Films: Composers and their Influence of Music in Films with Dr. Robert Butts.
 
Music has long been a major part of film. In many instances, the scores have defined the focus of the film and have been fully integrated into the film’s narrative impact. Some of the most important composers have been Max Steiner, Franz Waxman, Bernard Herrmann, Henry Mancini, Ennio Morricone, and John Williams.

Maestro Robert W. Butts, founder, and conductor of the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey for 20 years was named one of five 2015 Honored Artists by The American Prize.  Dr. Butts is a faculty member at Montclair State University and Drew University. He lectures in many venues including conferences, adult education programs, and educational panels at the Metropolitan Opera. As well as being a gifted lecturer, Dr. Butts is a renowned conductor.  In addition to his ongoing commitment to the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, he has conducted numerous opera companies in the NJ/NY area. Finally, Dr. Butts’ compositions have been performed in Europe and Asia. 2019-Exemplary Leader Award from the Morris   County Chamber of Commerce. 2019-Named Artist of the Year by The New York Classical Music Society. 2021-Conducted premier of my composed opera “Vite senza tempo” in Padua, Italy
 
Inclusive fee for all 4 sessions: $25 (Fridays, May 5, 12, 19, 26 @ 2-3:30 pm). This fee will help us to cover the cost of our speaker.

Live Well, Age Smart is an ongoing series that provides creative learning opportunities to the Parsippany area community. Utilizing collegiate-level speakers, the series seeks to: Serve as a forum for intellectual stimulation and change; Enhance awareness and involvement with life; Provide opportunities for socialization in friendly, comfortable surroundings.
